One of the most overlooked parts of what we do is the fact that we don’t do it alone and we rely on a lot of people for help. Like all non-profits, we could not do what we do without volunteers. Our volunteers will sanitize toys in our children’s room for hours, file papers, rake leaves, cook dinner, conduct research, answer the crisis line or teach kids about respect. Our board members, who also participate as volunteers, give us the guidance we need to make sure we are thoughtful and efficient stewards of donor dollars. They help with event planning, budgeting, governance and securing corporate sponsorships. They are our advocates and we find their experience and knowledge invaluable.
This holiday season, we had a cookie exchange as a way to honor and acknowledge the many people that help us do what we do, and get nothing in return. We hope they understand that they’ve made a difference and supported something bigger than themselves. We hope they know that through volunteering, they are providing Healing, Advocacy, Victim Support, Education and New Beginnings to the entire Gallatin Valley. This is no short feat and they do it with a smile on their face. THANK YOU to our volunteers and board members, from the HAVEN staff.
