New group of Peer Ed students learn about health, relationships at retreat
This year’s class of Peer Ed students was the first in two years that was able to do a retreat in person!
As such, the students leaned into team-building exercises and a ropes course through AMB West Basecamp. They also gained a deeper understanding of sexual health and healthy/unhealthy relationships at their recent retreat, and from the looks of it, they had a great time learning together.
Peer Education – co-facilitated by Haven and Bridgercare – involves 15-20 or so high school students who are able to offer their peers information about healthy relationships, medically accurate information about sexual/reproductive health, and referrals to services. The group meets weekly throughout the school year.
This year’s Peer Ed group is full, but watch this space next summer when we’re recruiting the 2023-24 group.
