secure domestic violence shelter

When home is no longer safe, Haven welcomes survivors of all genders – and their pets – to our new shelter near Bozeman Pond Park.

support groups

We host adult support groups in Bozeman that meet weekly for an hour and a half. These sessions are open to adults staying in the shelter, adults in the community, and to adults at all stages in the healing process. During these sessions, a trained facilitator leads discussion about current or past abuse. All of Haven's support group services are gender-inclusive.

To attend the in-person group, call the support line (406-586-4111) and chat with an advocate about your eligibility.

counseling Services

Haven counselors provides individual therapy sessions. One-on-one sessions address issues regarding self-esteem, understanding needs, recognizing feelings, learning effective ways to communicate with others, healing from abuse and personal growth. Individual therapy is a participant driven process where participants set personal goals they would like to achieve during individual sessions.

legal advocacy

Legal advocates support survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and stalking as they navigate the court system. The legal advocate explains general court procedures and paperwork and offers support to individuals navigating the legal process.

COMMUNITY ALLIES

Haven provides community education so we can all become allies in ending domestic violence. From workshops and training, to providing support for family and friends, Haven’s inclusive programming helps both individuals and the whole community become part of the solution.

Survivor Advocacy

What is an advocate?
An advocate is a person who has been trained to respond to domestic violence, sex trafficking and stalking. An advocate’s primary concern is assisting a survivor to develop a plan for immediate and long term safety.

An advocate’s job is to:

  • Listen to an individual and problem solve with them rather than for them.

  • Assist an individual in identifying abusive patterns and behaviors within their intimate relationship.

  • Offer survivors information about their rights and discuss legal or non-legal options.

  • Assist in developing a safety plan that is tailored to fit the needs of the individual.

  • Honor the decisions individuals make in regard to their immediate and long term safety.

  • Offer individual and group support as well as community resource information and referrals.

survivors supporting survivors PROGRAM

Survivors Supporting Survivors is Haven’s peer-to-peer support program. This program gives survivors a chance to expand their social network of support by connecting to others who have experienced domestic violence. As the group continues to evolve, Haven provides referrals, conducts interviews and hosts brief trainings. Outside of this limited involvement, this group runs organically on its own. Survivors Supporting Survivors is mainly an online space with monthly in-person meetings.

I was in a domestic abuse situation with a violent partner and when I needed somewhere to turn, Haven was there and more than willing to help. I received guidance and support from many incredible women. In these types of situations, that support is an amazing thing to have and Haven supports all the decisions you make on your own, and helps you with the difficult ones too.
