Executive Director’s Spring 2025 Update
Dear Haven community,
As I step down as Haven’s Executive Director, I’m reflecting on the journey we’ve taken together. Eleven years ago, I stepped into this role with a simple commitment: To ensure survivors had a safe place to turn. At the time, our small team of staff and volunteers operated from an undisclosed location, quietly providing critical support while dreaming of a future where we could do more.
Thanks to you, that future is here!
The Barnard Center is a symbol of what’s possible when a community comes together. We’ve more than tripled our staff, doubled our programs, and dramatically expanded our reach.
In our first quarter at the new shelter, we served 248 survivors. This past quarter, we served 545. In the past year, we provided 87% more shelter bed nights than the year before. We’ve also deepened our commitment to prevention and community engagement.
Together, we’ve made this kind of progress possible.
To our founders: Your courage and generosity teaches us how to meet community needs.
To our donors and community partners: Your support ensures that no survivor walks alone.
To our board: Your leadership and guidance strengthen our work.
To our staff and volunteers: Your dedication is the heart of Haven.
To survivors: Your strength drives everything we do.
And the work continues. As demand reaches record highs and federal funding remains uncertain, Haven rises to the challenge, breaking service records in legal advocacy, counseling, and shelter.
I invite you to stand with us again and ensure our community has a safe haven. Please join us in advocating for survivor services, bridging funding gaps, and partnering with local leaders to meet evolving needs.
Knowing you all are dedicated to Haven’s mission, I leave with deep pride and full confidence in Haven’s next chapter.
Stand with me: Give, advocate, and help shape a future free from violence.
