Haven’s Informed Consent
Thank you for your interest in our work providing shelter and support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sex trafficking. This informed consent contains information about safety and confidentiality for visitors to our shelter campus. Please feel free to contact a staff member if you have any questions.
Haven reserves the right to ask anyone to leave the premises at any time for any reason.
Confidentiality
For the privacy and safety of our residents, we ask any individual entering our shelter to sign a Confidentiality Log stating that they understand to keep everything they see/hear confidential. We ask that you do not share with anyone any information on individuals that you may see or hear in our shelter.
Conflict of interest
The safety of our participants, staff, and volunteers is our primary concern. All visitors to The Barnard Center are asked to provide their full name and any aliases to be cross referenced in our internal database. Conflicts of interest can exist for many reasons. Individuals who have served as witnesses in past or current legal cases, those who have worked with staff or participants in a professional or financial capacity, and those who have personal relationships with past or present residents may flag in our system.
In that event, Haven staff will let you know you cannot visit our facility. We will not be able to offer details about the conflict of interest. If you feel there has been an error, you may request our grievance policy and paperwork.
If there is no conflict of interest, Haven staff will contact you to let you know you are welcome on our campus.
Disclosed shelter location
Our current shelter address is available online. Our administrative building, including our large, reservable Connection Room and our small Quiet Library, is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm.
Law enforcement presence
The Bozeman Police Department has a substation located in our administrative building. We have partnered with them to help increase safety for our residents.
Security cameras and protocols
Since our shelter is in a disclosed location we have several types of security measures in place including monitored security cameras and dual-factor authentication.
In the event of an emergency, CODE ORANGE will be called over our PA system. If you hear CODE ORANGE called, go immediately to the closest secured zone.
By giving your informed consent, you acknowledge that you have received the above information and were provided the opportunity to ask questions and/or discuss any concerns.
