Haven, partners spread the word about local sexual-assault resources

Haven joins Bozeman forensic nurses and a student-resources group in a series of upcoming talks aimed at spreading the word about resources and support for people who’ve experienced sexual assault. 

Hosted by Montana State University Academic Technology and Outreach, the talks will cover abuse, assault, and manipulation in relationships in the weeks leading up to Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. 

The series is free and open to the public; registration is not required. All presentations will be at the Bozeman Public Library’s Community Room from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Feb. 26 - MSU Campus Civil Rights

Madison Herman, Genevieve Bernard and Annalise Pollock Foltz

This presentation will provide an overview of the MSU Campus Civil Rights (CCR) office as a resource, including:

  • Realities of reporting on a college campus,

  • Review what happens at CCR when a report is received,

  • Discuss the realities of interpersonal violence on campus,

  • Review CCR’s mission towards equity and supporting people at any point in their journey (including info on how we support people if they left MSU due to their experiences and want to return).

Meilyn Ordaz Revete

Learn more about Haven, a fixture of the local community for 40 years, and their mission to provide safe, effective support for those dealing with domestic violence, sex trafficking and stalking. You’ll learn about: 

  • Haven services

  • dynamics of domestic/intimate-partner violence

  • how to support a friend or loved one who might be experiencing such violence

April 1 - Bozeman Health Forensic Nursing Program

Emily Mangas

Bozeman Health's Forensic Nursing Program provides medical assistance and support to those affected by sexual assault and abuse. The Forensic Nursing team is comprised of trained professionals who will be able to collect and safely process evidence necessary for sexual assault cases, as well as provide access to appropriate resources for those impacted.
